Proposal for a Director Plan of Cooperation and Solidarity in Ametlla del Vallès (2007-2011)

The Director Plan of Cooperation and Solidarity in Ametlla del Vallès (2007-2011) has been created by a participatory process conducted by AVALUEM, which has been in meetings with the various agencies and organizations of the municipality and that also has contributed to the creation of a Council of Cooperation and Solidarity as a meeting point for entities with local roots who want to collaborate to promote solidarity-based initiatives in the field of cooperation for development and peace, together with municipal officials.

The Director Plan has among its objectives to support and coordinate the local dynamic, which must involve the highest possible number of entities, promoting a dynamic process of cooperation with the region of Chinandega (Nicaragua) -with whom is intended to make a brotherhood agreement-, and promoting the co-development initiative in the Department of Manabi (Ecuador) -town of origin of the collective of the majority immigrants living in Ametlla del Vallès- to continue with the active participation in the solidarity networks of some municipalities such as the Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament and promote citizen participation in solidarity initiatives.

About the Council, this is a participation framework which should lead to the opening of a meeting space at the local level for reflection, impulse and coordination of solidarity activities, discussion and approval of the strategic lines of cooperation and solidarity, or training and strengthening of the solidarity local actors and the involvement of other entities.
