Actors of Meeting of universities counterparts of the South of the Catalan universities and of others of Catalunya cooperation

During three days in 2008, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona hosted the IV Congrès Universitat i Cooperació al Desenvolupament, jointly organized by the Catalan universities. The target was to provide a space to reflection in the context of university cooperation for development, in order to think about the changes that have taken place in the framework of the theory and practice of development from the specific perspective of university cooperation, as well as pay attention to evaluation and critical analysis of the situation of university cooperation in the context of the new challenges.

As a continuation of the Congress it is also expected a meeting of University partners of the South in 2009 with the support of the Agència Catalana de Cooperació al Desenvolupament, where they will meet some Catalan universities counterparts from countries of the South with which there is a tradition of working together. The aim of the meeting is the analysis and assessment by the counterpart of the development cooperation from Catalunya according to the principles of alignment and harmonization with the development strategies of the South and using the criteria of quality and impact in order to think about strategies and innovative proposals to improve the future.

It is expected AVALUEM to propose the methodology to carry out the meeting between Catalan universities with their southern counterparts and collect the synthesis of inputs from the Conference and a summary of interventions made to each of the proposed tables, as well as the drafting of the final document of conclusions proposed by the different tables in the plenary.
