Promotion of the human rights of women, support to enrich the social and economic process and to strengthen the capacities of the associations in the urban and rural areas of Tetuán, M'diq and Chefchauen (Morocco)

The evaluated program

This project is part of a 3 years program in which the human rights of the women were promoted by a adopting a integrated view of the process taken to support the enriching process of women (cultural, social and economic) and the promotion of the women associations capacities in the urban and rural areas of the provinces of Tetuán, M'diq and Chefchauen.

The program is addressed to those women who are especially affected for the socioeconomic and cultural limitations of the rural and urban environment, women victims of the genre violence, women member of women's associations and investigators on the topic of the woman.

To achieve it, we followed an structure:

• 1. Consolidation of a permanent service of primary health care in sexual and reproductive health.
• 2. Psychological and juridical help offered to women victims of domestic and sexual violence.
• 3. Support to initiatives for the economic autonomy of the women (literacy courses; professional training and support in the progress of the process management of commercialization to productive initiatives of women who contemplate the genre approach).

• 4. The investigation was promoted and we facilitated the access to resources and the dissemination of culture of the equity between men and women.
• 5. We strengthen women’s organizations, giving support to the recognition processes and getting to know the role of the women in the political, economic and social processes.

All these activities were enclosed with by actions of sensitization and incidence guided to women, local actors and to the general public on the human rights of the women. In Catalunya, several acts were realized in order to get to know a diagnosis of the situation of the women in Morocco and also of its answer capacity in adverse situations, due to the presentations of the documentary one “Rain of the North”.
