Technical evaluation of the program moving towards a control of weapons and disarmament (PR2010)

The evaluated program

The evaluation had the initial intention to improve the quality and efficacy of the actions and of the institutional management. Within the program it became possible to bring over and to sensitize the Catalan population on the need to save the future generations of the scourges of the war and to advance towards processes of disarmament and demilitarization at local, regional and international level. This has been achieved in the different sectors in which FundiPau has interfered. The answer was very positive both on the part of the Catalan society, and of the representative politicians and the mass media.

In the following paragraph are exhibited some of the obtained successes:

• Weapons Under Control: there is a continued denunciation for the non-compliance by the central government of the Law of Commerce of Weapons, as Spain keeps on exporting armament to countries in conflict and where serious human rights violations are committed, etc...
• Prohibition of the bombs of dispersion: coming into force of the International Treaty about the Prohibition of the bombs of dispersion; celebration of the first international convention to accept an action plan to turn the legal obligations of the bomb Treaty of dispersion into concrete actions; impulse of the first edition of the World Day of Action to stop the explosive investments, etc...
• Review of the Treaty of Non-proliferation of nuclear weapons: cyberactions and participation in the first edition of the World Day of Action; reception of the Hibakusha, survivors' delegation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (2012)

Finally, to keep the citizenship informed and to provide them with tools, four-monthly bulletins have been edited; it has been edited and distributed the summary of the yearbook Sipiri and informed across the social networks. A celebration of a public act to report of the victories and challenges in disarmament will be organized and electoral proposals will be send to the political parties candidates for the elections on the Parlament de Catalunya and to Congrés de Diputats.
