The target of the action is to contribute to the reduction of the impact of the malaria (morbidity and mortality) in the region of Chókwé within the empowering of the community and the strengthening of the current actions realized by the services, and local and regional professionals of health, as a part of the national Program of Control of the Malaria of the Department of Health. The population benefited would be children younger than 5 years and the pregnant mothers, as well as the whole community and the professionals of health.
The main activities are: i) to equip the local laboratories, ii) formation of the workers of health in laboratory diagnosis and clinical of the malaria, management of the detected cases and in systems of epidemiologic alertness and of information of health; iii) to increase the knowledge of the community about the malaria, principally the symptoms of danger and the importance of the use of the mosquito nets treated with insecticide; iv) improvement of the sanitation and increase of the access and use of mosquito nets treated with insecticide; and, v) support to the Department of Health in the pursuit of the efficacy of new treatments.
